Weekly Pool Service In Las Vegas, Nevada

Winter is coming to a close, spring is in the air, the temperatures are warming up which means it is time to start thinking about your swimming pool again! If you own a residential or commercial swimming pool that means changes need to happen and prepping your swimming pool for swim season is extremely important because as the water warms up changes must be made to keep it looking great. Now that it is March and summer is just around the corner it is time to get your pool ready for the upcoming season! Warmer temperatures start to occur in March and that means you must be more diligent with your service. The biggest key at this point is having the knowledge that there is more maintenance that is required when the pool water warms up and we want this blog post to highlight all that needs to be done and how we can help.

How Temperatures Affect Your Water Chemistry

With temperatures already warming up, City Wide Pool Service would like to make sure your swimming pool is ready for the upcoming season. That means you can either hire a reputable company like ours to provide weekly pool service in Las Vegas or perform it on your own if you would prefer. We understand that when you spend a lot of your hard-earned money on a swimming pool, it’s extremely important to keep it blue, clean, and clear. Ultimately, hiring a reputable swimming pool service and repair company should be at the forefront of your mind but we know that some people might not have the budget and would prefer to do it on their own. First and foremost, your water chemistry is extremely important and we recommend using Taylor Test Kits to check for adequate amounts of chlorine, pH, Total Alkalinity (TA), and Cyanuric Acid (CYA). In addition to monitoring your water chemistry weekly, skimming out all debris with a net as soon as possible when bushes and trees bloom is also extremely important to prevent chlorine loss in the pool. Please note, any dirt and debris affect water chemistry that is why it’s such a priority. You will also want to make sure to empty out the skimmer and pump baskets to allow for proper filtration in and out of the filter.

Balancing Water Chemistry

Most importantly, if you haven’t already, you will need to increase your levels of chlorine in the swimming pool. At this point, we recommend increasing your chlorine levels to at least 3 ppm to prevent algae growth. The other major change that will need to occur is your filter run times. Typically, during winter you can decrease your run times by a few hours but they will need to be at their max during the warmer months.

The following are the water chemistry we recommend for spring/summer:

Chlorine – 3 – 5 ppm

pH – 7.4 – 7.8

TA – 80 – 120 ppm

CYA – 30 – 50 ppm (if you have a salt chlorinator please refer to the manual as these numbers might be different)

To prevent possible algae growth now is the time to increase your chlorine levels along with your filtration run times. Typically, depending on the size of your swimming pool your filter run times will be between 6 – 8 hours a day in the springtime and 8 – 12 hours a day in the summertime.
