Nothing beats taking a dip in the pool on a hot sunny day or swimming a couple of laps to de-stress after a long day. But while pool-time can potentially give you hours of enjoyment and relaxation, unsafe chemical levels in your pool water can ruin this experience.

The most common chemical used for pool maintenance is chlorine. But too little or too much can affect your pool’s water chemistry. This leads to what we call a water imbalance, which can harm your skin and cause the deterioration of your pool’s surface.

Likewise, the breakdown process of organic matter in the water creates a reaction that can alter the water balance. This makes your pool water look cloudy. When this happens, it’s a sign that you need to check your pool’s water chemistry.

What is Water Chemistry?

Water chemistry is the measurement of your pool water’s pH level, total alkalinity, total dissolved solids, calcium hardness, cyanuric acid, and chlorine. If any of these components exceed or go below the recommended range, an imbalance in the water is created.

Several factors can contribute to the imbalance: excessive chemical treatment, ineffective water filtering, and water reduction.

To ensure that our customers’ pool water is safe for use at all times, we recommend checking the chemistry level every week, focusing specifically on the chlorine levels. The right amount of chlorine can prevent bacteria from developing and algae from blooming. This keeps your pool water clear and blue.

Maintaining Pool Water Safety

On top of making sure that your pool has the right  water chemistry, we provide weekly cleaning services and periodic treatment that includes the following:

Regular Filter Cleaning

We empty your filter baskets every week to remove debris that can clog your filtration system. Aside from organic debris, it’s not uncommon to find wildlife trapped in the filters or in the skimmers too.

The decaying matter can severely affect the water chemistry and leave it looking dull and cloudy. And while it’s there, it can clog up the filters and affect the pump pressure. This leaves you with two problems: dirty water and an overworked pump motor.

With weekly cleaning, you can be sure that your filtration system is in optimum working condition, so it can filter and cycle your pool water effectively.

Regular Surface Cleaning

Mold can grow on the crevices of hairline cracks and broken grouting on the pool surface. It can leave a slimy film on the tile surface and feel uncomfortable under your feet.

As part of our weekly cleaning routine, we brush the tiles and the steps of your pool to make sure these surfaces are mold- and algae-free.

Periodic Pool Inspection

Our team checks for surface cracks and apply the necessary treatment to prevent it from getting worse. We also keep an eye out for structural cracks that can lead to leaks. The structural cracks can leak water from your pool and eventually empty it. These structural problems occur when the chemical levels in the water are too high, resulting in the weakening of the surface and the formation of cracks.

The early detection of these problems can save you a lot of headaches and from spending on repair expenses that could’ve been avoided in the first place.
